Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains how the CTRail App ("the App") handles your information.

1. Information We Collect

The App is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data:

• Location Data (optional): If you grant permission, the App uses your location to find the nearest station. Location data is processed on-device only and is never sent to our servers.
• Favorite Stations: Your saved stations and preferences are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. This data never leaves your device.
• AI Processing: All on-device AI features powered by Apple Foundation Models run entirely on your device. No personal data is sent to any cloud service for AI processing.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or personal identifiers
• We do not track your travel patterns or commute history
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties
• We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs
• We do not collect device identifiers for advertising

3. Network Requests

The App makes network requests solely to fetch publicly available transit data:

• CTtransit GTFS-Realtime feeds (vehicle positions, trip updates, service alerts)
• CTtransit GTFS static schedule data

These requests do not include any personal information or device identifiers.

4. Push Notifications (Future Feature)

If you opt in to push notifications for delay alerts, your device token and selected trip preferences will be stored on our server (Supabase) solely for the purpose of sending you the notifications you requested. You can disable this at any time in the App settings.

5. Advertising

The free version of the App may display ads. Ads are served by third-party ad networks that may collect anonymized device information in accordance with their own privacy policies. Premium subscribers see no ads.

6. Data Storage

All app data (schedules, favorites, preferences) is stored locally on your device. No personal data is stored on external servers unless you opt in to push notifications.

7. Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App is a general transit information tool suitable for all ages.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or on this page.
