1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Jamaica AI mobile application ("App") operated by Di Nerd Apps LLC ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the App, you agree to these Terms in full.
2. Description of Service
Jamaica AI is an iOS application that provides:
- Patois translation services powered by the Google Cloud Translation API
- On-device AI chat for questions about Jamaican culture (no server communication)
- Educational content about Jamaican history, culture, language, and more
- A phrasebook, daily quiz, and word of the day features
- An optional one-time Pro upgrade via Apple's App Store
The App is designed for informational and educational purposes. While we strive for accuracy, all content should be verified independently for critical use.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use Jamaica AI. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you must have parental consent.
4. License to Use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Jamaica AI for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute any part of the App
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Use the App to develop a competing product or service
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to circumvent any security measures in the App
5. User Content
Text you enter into the translator is processed by Google's Cloud Translation API. You are responsible for ensuring the content you translate does not violate any applicable laws or third-party rights. Do not input sensitive personal information, confidential data, or illegal content into the translator.
6. In-App Purchases — Jamaica AI Pro
Jamaica AI offers a one-time optional purchase, "Jamaica AI Pro", through the Apple App Store.
- Price: USD $2.99 (or local equivalent) — one-time, no recurring charges
- What you get: No ads, unlimited translation history, offline phrasebook access, extended quiz content
- Refunds: All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be made to Apple in accordance with their refund policy
- Restore Purchases: You can restore your Pro purchase on any device signed into the same Apple ID using the "Restore Purchases" option in Settings
7. Advertising
The free version of Jamaica AI displays advertisements via Google AdMob. Ads are not shown on detail views or to Pro users. We do not control the content of advertisements displayed by AdMob. Upgrading to Pro permanently removes all advertising.
8. Third-Party Services
Jamaica AI uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms:
- Google Cloud Translation API — for language translation
- Firebase — for analytics, crash reporting, and content
- Google AdMob — for advertising in the free version
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — for in-app purchases
We are not responsible for the practices of these third-party services. Please review their respective terms and privacy policies.
9. Accuracy of Content
Jamaica AI provides educational and cultural content about Jamaica, including history, language, and culture. While we make every effort to ensure accuracy:
- Translations may not always be perfectly accurate, especially for Jamaican Patois, which is a rich and varied creole language
- AI-generated responses in the Ask AI feature are based on on-device language models and may contain errors or outdated information
- Historical and cultural content is for general education only and should not be used as a primary academic source
We are not responsible for any decisions made based on information provided by the App.
10. Intellectual Property
All content in Jamaica AI — including text, design, graphics, code, and the Jamaica AI name and logo — is the property of Di Nerd Apps LLC and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce or redistribute any content from the App without our express written permission.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
Jamaica AI is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Di Nerd Apps LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for all claims arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim.
13. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to Jamaica AI at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, third parties, or for any other reason at our sole discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease.
14. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Jamaica AI after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the App.
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within the United States.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms will otherwise remain in full force and effect.
