Privacy Policy – NYC Parking Violations

This Privacy Policy describes how Di Nerd Apps LLC ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the NYC Parking Violations iOS application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

We are committed to your privacy. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. The App is designed to work without requiring you to create an account.

License Plate Numbers

When you search a license plate, the plate number is sent directly to the NYC Open Data API (a public government service). We do not store your search queries on our own servers. Any plate you choose to save is stored locally on your device only using iOS UserDefaults.

Usage & Analytics Data

We collect anonymous usage analytics via Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the App (screens visited, features used, session length). This data does not personally identify you and is used solely to improve the App.

Crash Reports

We use Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect crash logs and diagnostic data (device model, OS version, stack traces) when the App crashes. This helps us identify and fix bugs. Crash reports do not contain personal information you have entered into the App.

Advertising Identifiers

For users who have not subscribed to the Pro plan, the App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS), IP address, general location (country/region), and other ad-serving signals. You can limit ad tracking in your device's Privacy settings under "Apple Advertising".

Purchase Information

In-app subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment details. Apple's Privacy Policy governs all purchase transactions.

⚙️ How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the App's core features (plate lookup, ticket display)
To improve App performance and fix bugs using anonymous analytics and crash data
To serve relevant advertisements to non-subscribed users via AdMob
To process and verify Pro subscription status via Apple StoreKit
To deliver push notifications about new violations on your saved plate (only if you grant permission)
To display iOS Live Activity updates for your saved plate

⏱️ Data Retention

We do not maintain a database of your searches. License plate data you save is stored only on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App or manually clear it within the App. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is retained per Google's standard retention policies (typically up to 14 months for analytics).

👶 Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

⚖️ Your Rights & Choices

Ad Tracking: Disable personalized ads in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising
Notifications: Disable push notifications in iOS Settings → Notifications → NYC Parking Violations
Saved Data: Remove your saved plate at any time from within the App
Firebase: Analytics collection can be opted out by uninstalling the App
California Residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what data is collected and to request deletion. Contact us at the address below.

🔒 Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. The App communicates with the NYC Open Data API over HTTPS. All data stored locally on your device is subject to iOS's built-in security protections. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

📝 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
